Viña Cono Sur was founded in 1993 with a vision of producing premium, expressive and innovative wines, with the spirit of the new world, under its award-winning winemaker Adolfo Hurtado. The wine is made at the heart of the acclaimed Colchagua Valley. In 2007, it was the first winery in the world to achieve carbon neutral delivery status. And in 2010 this commitment to the environment was further cemented with Cono Sur becoming the 3rd winery in the world to receive CEMARS certification.
2010 was a fantastic year for this popular brand, Wine & Spirits magazine named Cono Sur ‘Value Brand of the Year’ and Cono Sur wines won eight awards at the Decanter World Wine awards and a total of nine awards from the 2010 International Wine Challenge – a phenomenal achievement.
The awards continued to flood in when Adolfo Hurtado, Chief Winemaker at Cono Sur was deemed ‘International Wine Person of the Year 2010’ by the Irish Mail on Sunday newspaper (Matthew Nugent) – “Chief Winemaker and MD at Chile’s Cono Sur winery, Hurtado has overseen the phenomenal growth of the label while maintaining a commitment to the environment. Cono Sur is the biggest producer of Pinot Noir in the world.
